Rice Pre Harvest and Post-harvest Workshop

A one-day workshop on Rice Harvest and Post-Harvest was held in SRI Lovely, Kg. Lintang, Kedah on 15 March 2015, attended by farmers. agricultural officers, trainees, academicians and students.
Rice is an important staple food and the majority of the rice producers are small scale farmers. Therefore there is a need to address issues related to these farmers throughout the supply chain. Major improvement is required at the harvesting and post-harvest activities. It is therefore timely that farmers be empowered in determining the efficiency of rice production from seed to shelf. This workshop intends to provide a platform to discuss the way forward for greater involvement of farmers in the pre harvest and post-harvest activities to ensure improved quality and productivity of rice.
Nasi merupakan makanan ruji yang penting dan majoriti pengeluar beras adalah daripada petani berskala kecil. Oleh yang demikian, adalah menjadi keperluan untuk menangani isu-isu yang berkaitan petani ini disepanjang proses rantaian bekalan. Perubahan yang besar perlu dilakukan dalam aktiviti penuaian dan pasca penuaian. Oleh itu, tepat pada masanya dimana para petani perlu diberi kuasa/hak bagi menentukan penghasilan beras secara keseluruhannya. Bengkel ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan satu idea untuk membincangkan cara bagi melibatkan penglibatan petani dalam aktivit-aktiviti penuaian dan pasca penuaian dalam memastikan kualiti dan produktiviti beras yang lebih baik.
