We Educate

Through education, farmers can play the roles of engineers, scientists, inventors, community leaders and teachers. They can be knowledgeable and in control of their means of production. We encourage engagement among farmers who support agroecology, provide them with proper training and let them exchange information freely with other stakeholders in the field. SRI-MAS strives to stay close with farmers and offer them high-quality consulting services and trainings.

SRI-Farmer Field School

Farmers learning from farmers

The project aims to protect and promote agrobiodiversity by upscaling the practice of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and Farmer Field Schools in Malaysia through an ecosystem-based approach guided by three key principles: environmental capacity, social capacity and institutional capacity. Instead of relying on the conventional top-down linear approach for learning new technologies, in which farmers are viewed only as beneficiaries, the project will adopt social learning as an approach for agricultural extension and innovation. Through social learning, the fostering of Farmer Field Schools will create an experiential learning environment that enables students to  mature together  from the strong facilitation and interaction that  would encourage their social participation and learning.
